Governors Club is a golf course community and census-designated place (CDP) in Chatham County, North Carolina, United States. It was first listed as a CDP in the 2020 census with a population of 1,969. The community is in northern Chatham County, 7 miles (11 km) south of Chapel Hill.

The History. The Governor's Club at Kiawah Island Golf Resort is named in honor of Governor Vanderhorst. General Arnoldus Vanderhorst, a Revolutionary War hero, was twice mayor of Charleston and Governor of South Carolina from 1794 to 1796.
