Taurus serial number lookup not working

Well I am having the dreaded "tight barrel cylinder gap" problem with my new Tracker 990. While filling out the work order I entered the serial number in the Taurus find your model feature to get the "Official" model designation. According to Taurus, my 990 Tracker (according to the serial number) is actually a Model 94SS4.

I've scrubbed through these forums as best I could and have thus far been unable to find anyone who has been able to crack the pre US serial number codes. Mine is a Model 66, 4 inch with a serial number of 40313. It is also stamped Taurus Int Mfg, Miami, FLA.
