Marlin 336 serial numbers by date

hello all, i have a marlin 336 that was made in '73 with a gold trigger it only says model 336 it does not say A, C, etc after the number which one is it? I'm new here so any help would be appreciated ... first two numbers from Serial will tell the date.. but the other info is needed to tell the type.. ..
