I have a Kohler Courage SV715s engine built in 2007. I have been having trouble for the last couple of years getting it started. If it will crank it starts easily but I cannot it is very hard to get it to turn over. I have read about the automatic compression release being a problem., Kohler Courage SV715. Its leaking oil onto the muffler so its blowing a good bit of blue smoke when its running. I'm guessing its the head gasket but I'm not sure and want to have some ideas on what to look for before I tear into it. I've also read about people having this ..., Aug 1, 2017 · I pulled the dipstick to see the color first and man was it overfilled. I went to Kohler's website and checked the specs for capacity and it said 1.6qts. I drained the old oil, replaced filter and added about 1.2qts. The level is about 1 1/2" over the full mark on the dipstick!!!! The owner's manual for the tractor says 1.4qts.
