I've had trouble with my Iphone (6S, ISO 14.6) notifying me that I have a voice mail. If I call the voicemail number, I can listen to my voicemail right away, but the voicemail section of the actual phone app (favorites, recents, contacts, keypad, voicemail) will not show the voicemail until hours later. This has been going on for at least a month.
